Let's dive into the features of this tool and see how it works.
1. Image Picker – Extract Colors from Photos
When you open the tool, the first feature you will see is the "Image Picker". This is the most powerful section of the tool.
- Upload Image: Click on the Upload Image box or simply drag and drop your desired image to get started.
- Zoom Control: For pixel-perfect precision, this tool includes an advanced zoom feature. use the slider to zoom into your image from 1.5x up to 5x.
- Magnifier Lens: Hover your mouse (or tap on mobile) over the image to activate a magnifying glass lens. This helps you select the exact pixel you need.
- Automatic Dominant Colors: As soon as you upload an image, the tool automatically analyzes it and displays the 5 Dominant Colors right below the canvas. No need to search manually!
- You will see a large color box. Clicking on it opens a native color picker.
- From there, you can manually select any solid color you desire.
- HEX: Essential for web design. (e.g., #FF5733)
- RGB: Standard for digital screens and graphics.
- HSL: Hue, Saturation, and Lightness values.
- CMYK: Crucial for printing and press work.
- LAB: Represents color luminance and chrominance.
- It follows international WCAG 2.0 guidelines.
- You will see a PASS or FAIL badge in the results. This ensures your design is readable and accessible to everyone.
- Shades & Tints: It generates lighter (Tints) and darker (Shades) versions of your selected color.

Harmonies: It provides 3 types of color combinations based on color theory:
- Complementary: Colors opposite to each other.
- Analogous: Colors next to each other.
- Triadic: Three colors evenly spaced on the wheel.
- Copy CSS: Direct CSS variable codes for web developers.
- Copy JSON: Useful for app developers.
- Copy Text: A simple text list of your colors.
- Mobile Friendly: Works smoothly on both mobile devices and desktops.
- Completely Free: No subscription or sign-up required.
- Pro Features: Includes advanced features like CMYK support and Contrast Checking, which are rarely found in free tools.
How to use: Upload Image > Zoom in if needed > Click or tap on the specific area > The color code is generated instantly.
2. Color Wheel – Create Custom Colors
If you don't have an image and want to generate a color from scratch, switch to the "Color Wheel" tab.
3. Advanced Color Formats & Names
Whether you pick a color from an image or the wheel, the right-side panel displays detailed codes for that specific color. You get access to 5 different formats:
Special Feature: Right above the color codes, you will see the English Name of the color (e.g., ~ OrangeRed, ~ Navy). This helps you identify colors easily. Each code also has a copy icon next to it for one-click copying.
4. Contrast Checker – Test Accessibility
This section is vital for UI/UX designers. It shows how clear White or Black text would look on top of your selected background color.
5. Color Harmonies & Variations
Once you select a color, what other colors go well with it? This section answers that question.
6. History Palette & Export
We often pick multiple colors during a session. This tool features a "History Palette" where every color you select is automatically saved.
Finally, you can download your created palette. Clicking the Export button gives you 3 options:
